Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens! Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Congratulations to St. Mary and St. Joseph Church. January 25, 2020 marks her 17th Anniversary of Inauguration.
We are very grateful today as we celebrate God’s great blessings upon our Church. “For the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
As we look back on the journey that was started by the Lord in year 2002 and look to were the Lord has led us today, we can only praise Him and thank Him for His mercies and grace.
The small group of the new born church celebrated the first Divine Liturgy on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Victoria Square Community Hall where SMSJ services were hosted every Saturday. Through the grace of God the service continued at this location till April 2008 when the new church building was constructed. The first service prayed at SMSJ new building was the Divine Liturgy of the Feast of Resurrection in April 2008.
Gradually, through the grace of God and the support of the congregation the construction work of phase I of the church was completed. In November of 2012, the decision to proceed with completing phase II of the church’s original design was taken which included the multipurpose hall/gym and the day care.
God continued to shower His church with many more blessings. On November 14, 2009, Father Youssef Iskander was ordained a priest and added a whole different dimension to the service of the church through his kindness and humbleness.
Few years later, another heavenly gift was received; Father Shenouda Meleka was ordained a priest on March 3, 2013 who through his huge undertaking the services of the church has grown, his smile and approachable personality makes everyone feel welcome.
Today, we want to thank our Lord for our faithful priests, Father Abraam, Father Youssef and Father Shenouda for their hard labor in His vineyard and who through their devotion and commitment and selflessness we are here celebrating God’s love together in one spirit.
May God’s love and grace dwell richly in His church. We pray that God continues to support our priests in their ministries in harvesting for the Lord’s house.
May the name of our Lord be glorified now and forever more.
